Cotswold Wellies - Part 1

Updated: Sep 24, 2021

I came across this really pretty way of using old Wellington Boots as I was running through Ruskin Mill valley last Spring - perfect inspiration for a new project!

I began by creating a drawing coloured with watercolour and gouache. I was then able to pick out the main colours for the fabric base.

A range of natural fabrics and small pieces of lace were layered onto a cotton base, pinned and then stitched in place.

Coloured 3D medium was added to create additional texture, and the base was painted using diluted screen printing inks.

Base completed and ready to begin stitching!
